Facebook rejects ads for a new conservative talk radio station in St. Louis: According to Christopher Arps, a co-host of a program on NewstalkSTL, Facebook rejected some ads that the new conservative talk radio station in St. Louis wanted to run. According to a screenshot that Arps shared in an article about the incident that he wrote for Redstate.com, Facebook claimed that the ads "[mention] politicians or [are] about sensitive social issues that could influence public opinion, how people vote and may impact the outcome of an election or pending election." Therefore, according to the same screenshot, Facebook would require the station to "get authorized first by confirming [its] identity and creating a disclaimer that lists who is paying for the ads." While this makes sense for political candidates and officeholders, political action committees and lobbyists, it is not clear that a radio station should be treated the same. It also raises the question, are networks like MSNBC and CNN held to the same standard, or is Facebook only picking on conservative leaning media outlets?
