Patreon disables account belonging to platform that archives videos censored by YouTube: Crowd-funding platform Patreon has disabled the account of a video sharing platform called altCensored, which archives videos censored or suppressed by YouTube. “We depended on Patreon to mainly cover around $100 a month in hosting,” altCensored reportedly told Reclaim The Net. “We are just trying to document removed material from YouTube and cover our hosting costs as we do it.” In a message to the platform Patreon indicated the page had been removed for violating its "Community Guidelines regarding Hate Speech." Specifically, Patreon said altCensored "propagate[s] negative stereotypes or segregational content towards protected communities.” The platform subsequently appealed Patreon's decision to disable its account with them, but isn't very optimistic about its chances of being allowed to return, according to Reclaim The Net. While there are other crowd-funding, or fan-funding, platforms that exist, it is difficult to attract the same level of donations through these less popular alternatives.
