Substack
Case #
5267

Twitter temporarily labels links to Substack "potentially spammy or unsafe": Amidst the launch of Substack's new short form content product called Notes, a product that appears positioned to compete directly with Twitter, the platform began labeling any links to any Substack page as "potentially spammy or unsafe." Twitter owner Elon Musk claimed that the reason for the warning label was that "Substack was trying to download a massive portion of the Twitter database to bootstrap their Twitter clone, so their IP address is obviously untrusted." However, such a label made Substack appear to be a "spammy" or even a scammy website. Twitter quickly resolved the issue, and as of publication, is no longer warning users who click on a Substack link in a tweet.
