Twitter suspends Job Creators Network after CEO authored Op-Ed criticizing Big Tech: The Job Creators Network (JCN) is a self-described nonpartisan organization that advocates for economic freedom. JCN believes the best way to promote these ideals is through a well-educated public, which the group accomplishes through employee education and other programs. However, one of JCN's major channels it used to promote this mission — Twitter — is no more. Twitter suspended the group for an unknown amount of time shortly after JCN President and CEO Alfredo Ortiz published an Op-Ed that argued Twitter should be regulated similar to the way utilities like AT&T are regulated. "Just as utilities such as AT&T can’t exclude services to users based on political beliefs, neither could utility web-hosting companies," Ortiz wrote in his article published by RealClearPolitics. JCN said in a press release that its account was suspended for allegedly violating Twitter's rules against platform manipulation and spam. "Twitter has silenced JCN and the 30 million small business owners it represents," Ortiz wrote in a statement. He mentioned that JCN had completed an "internal review" which failed to demonstrate the group violated any of Twitter's terms and conditions. Instead, Ortiz said he believes Twitter's actions were "likely pure retaliation against us for our position on tech regulations." Ortiz added that Twitter's actions only "further bolster" the position "that social media companies need further regulation and more small business competitors." Ortiz concluded that JCN has appealed Twitter's suspension, and JCN will be expecting "an explanation and apology."
