X community adds a context note to UK treasury's post: HM Treasury's official X account posted "REVEALED: After today's NICs changes, the UK's tax rate for those on average salaries is lower than all G7 nations based on the latest @OECD data. This government supports hard workers." The post included a graph that attempted to back up the statement. The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. These figures apply only to an unmarried single earner with no children. It is therefore not the average personal tax rate, as a majority of people in these countries are married. For married households with children, effective tax rates are lower in the US, Japan, and France oecd-ilibrary.org/sites/8c99fa4d…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
