Instagram suspends group advocating against sexual exploitation of minors in response to leftist pressure campaign: On Oct. 26, 2023, Becky Weiss of Gays Against Groomers (GAG) announced that Instagram had suspended the group's account. While Instagram gave no reason for the suspension, Weiss concluded that the suspension was in response to recent pressure campaigns from leftist advocacy organizations Media Matters and GLAAD. On Sept. 26, 2023, Camden Carter of Media Matters published a piece calling out Instagram for platforming GAG. On Sept. 25, after GAG had been removed and then reinstated by Facebook in a separate incident, GLAAD responded with vicious criticism, calling the restoration "harmful." The page has since been restored.
