The Dossier

Facebook censors The Dossier: Jordan Schachtel, an independent investigative reporter, runs a Facebook page called The Dossier. On Facebook, Schachtel posted an article from his Substack, with the words, “It really was just the flu, bro.” Facebook applied a fact-check label to the post. The link preview is obscured with a filter that says, “False information. Checked by independent fact-checkers. See why.” Users must click through the filter, which displays the message, “Independent fact-checkers say this information has no basis in fact. You can choose whether to see it.” Users then can choose to view the fact-checking article, or the original content of the post. Schachtel tweeted about the incident on Twitter. Per the screenshot on Twitter though, the filter obscuring his Facebook post was a Sensitive Content Filter. The message says, “Sensitive Content. This photo may be sensitive to some people.” At the time of publishing, the Sensitive Content filter is gone but the Fact-check filter remains.
