X community adds a context note to DeSantis War Room post: The DeSantis War Room X account posted "TRUMP: 'I stood by and I watched Minneapolis, I watched Portland, I watched so many different places just burn, burn, violently burn.'" The post included a video clip of former President Donald Trump saying these words and more, claiming that he sent the National Guard to save Minneapolis. The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. Although Trump claims that he saved Minneapolis by sending in the National Guard (“even though I wasn’t supposed to”), it was Governor Walz, not President Trump, who deployed the Minnesota National Guard: cnn.com/2020/07/01/pol…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
