Facebook fact-checks article about lack of global warming: MRC Free Speech America’s Catherine Salgado posted on Facebook Feb. 4 an article she wrote that was published on PJ Media, titled, “Hot Air: No Global Warming for Eight Years.” The article cited data from NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) showing the planet is not experiencing global warming for the last eight years. On Feb. 6, Facebook notified Salgado, “Independent fact-checkers reviewed the information and said it was missing context and could mislead people.” The “missing context” was that NOAA still says the last decade is allegedly much warmer than most years in a 143-year time period, though their data shows no warming in the last eight years. Facebook also warned Salgado, “People who repeatedly share false information might have their posts moved lower in News Feed so other people are less likely to see them.”
