Roe v. Wade may be history, but the fight for the rights of the unborn is far from over. Big Tech continues to flex its pro-abortion muscles, targeting pro-life activists and groups.

Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins is a fierce advocate for the rights of unborn children. As such, Students for Life of America is no stranger to being censored online for daring to express its views.

I recently sat down with Hawkins at the National Pro-Life Summit to get her thoughts on why free speech online is vital to the pro-life movement.

Hawkins warned that “[w]ithout free speech, there is no pro-life movement.”

“In order for us to be victorious in abolishing abortion and ending the atrocity – the violence of abortion, making it unthinkable and unavailable in our lifetime — we have to have the right to free speech,” she said.

Big Tech repeatedly targeted Hawkins and her organization, Students for Life of America.

The Chinese Communist Party-tied TikTok, in particular, flexed its pro-abortion muscles, as documented in our unique CensorTrack.org database. The platform removed videos and repeatedly banned Students for Life of America’s account for unexplained violations of its “Community Guidelines.”

“It’s sort of this constant process of, you know, we’ll see a video, sometimes”  videos “of me on campus speaking that we haven’t even made but others will cut and make. And we’re like, ‘Oh my gosh, it’s gone viral. It has so many tens of thousands of views,’ and then all of a sudden, it’s gone,” she said.

But Hawkins noted that Big Tech’s bias extended beyond content removals and account suspensions.

“It’s not just removing [posts],” she said. “It’s [Big Tech’s] algorithms — them pushing their radical pro-abortion agenda constantly.”

She also addressed Big Tech’s ongoing efforts to hinder Students for Life of America’s advertising campaigns.

“It’s a constant process of, like, monitoring the advertising campaigns we’re doing in the cities, making sure that it is actually getting out there [and that] it hasn’t been censored. So, it is a constant thing at Students for Life,” she said.

MRC Free Speech America confirmed  Big Tech’s pro-abortion bias in a recent study analyzing Google’s search engine. MRC Free Speech America researchers analyzed Google, Bing and DuckDuckGo search results for the word “pregnancy” in a “clean environment” and discovered Google’s first search result showed a link to America’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood. This result stood in stark contrast to Bing and DuckDuckGo, which both showed more neutral search results.

Students for Life of America is a member of the Media Research Center's Free Speech Alliance, a coalition of 100 organizations dedicated to protecting freedom of speech online.
