Mini-AOC
Case #
3864

Twitter falsely accused parody account Mini AOC of violating its age requirement policy: Mini-AOC is a Twitter account that pokes fun at Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), her policy proposals and her media appearances. The account features the face of Ava Martinez through its videos and pictures but the account is allegedly operated by her stepfather Salvatore Schachter. Schachter reportedly told The Daily Wire that Twitter locked the @realminiAOC account on   May 23 due to age restrictions. Twitter Rules state that the platform "requires people using [its] service to be 13 years of age or older," and that it will lock the accounts of underage users who will "need parental consent in order to re-activate it."  Schachter reportedly told Daily Wire that Twitter cited the fact that Ava is under 13 as reasoning for the lock even though her stepfather operates the account. “I feel we were locked out now because our account has been growing rapidly since Elon Musk announced his bid for Twitter and our views resonate with our followers while running contrary to Twitter’s views," Schachter said. Twitter did not reply to MRC CensorTrack's request for comment at the time of publishing.
