Dan O'Donnell Show
Case #

YouTube removes Dan O'Donnell Show interview with Sen. Ron Johnson and suspended show channel when the two discussed COVID-19 vaccines and alternative treatments: Radio host Dan O'Donnell interviewed Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) and the two discussed alternative COVID treatments. The senator called the COVID-19 vaccine mandates "pointless" and cited the weaknesses of the vaccines as evidence. "Now we know that people who are fully vaccinated are getting infected, they can transmit the virus, they have very high viral loads even if they are not necessarily exhibiting symptoms," said Sen. Johnson. He later added that "[t]he fully vaccinated are getting ill, they're being hospitalized, they're dying." Johnson also criticized hospitals that have hindered their doctors' ability to repurpose drugs like hydroxychloroquine or Ivermectin as treatment options for those who are infected with COVID-19. He argued that the practice of repurposing drugs is not an unusual medical practice. "For example hydroxychloroquine. It was really designed as an anti-malarial but it has certain properties that work good with Lupus and Rheumatoid arthritis so it became used for that. But we can't even consider using it as a multi-drug, part of a multi-drug protocol for early treatment? Why not give it a shot?" YouTube removed O'Donnell's video of the interview allegedly for "violating YouTube's Community Guidelines." It is unclear exactly why the video was removed but YouTube's COVID-19 medical misinformation policy prohibits content recommending hydroxychloroquine or Ivermectin as "safe" or “effective treatment[s]” or “prevention” measures for COVID-19. It also forbids "[c]laims that COVID-19 vaccines are not effective in preventing the spread of COVID-19." O'Donnell tweeted that his channel has been suspended for one week, consistent with the penalty for a first strike infraction. The platform's three-strikes system typically allows for a warning and two strikes within a 90 day period before a third strike would remove a channel from the platform entirely.
