Gad Saad
Case #
2189

Facebook deletes content from Concordia professor Gad Saad and temporarily restricts before later reversing its decision: Gad Saad is an evolutionary psychologist and professor at Concordia University. Saad posted a screenshot of a tweet by Pakistani actress Veena Malik. Her tweet simply included a quote attributed to Adolf Hitler, "I would have killed all the Jews of the world... but I kept some to show the world why I killed them." He captioned his post with the words "I see this every day. Every day."  Facebook restricted his account for three days because the post qualified as "something that violates Facebook policies." In his Tweet explaining to his Twitter followers what happened, Saad wrote in frustration, "I share a tweet to demonstrate the ugliness of genocidal Jew-hatred (as a Jewish person), and I get banned?!" He filed a complaint with Facebook which, as in past disputes, successfully compelled the platform to restore his account and his post.
