Facebook restricts retired Vanderbilt professor from live streaming the day before she planned to do so for a virtual event: Dr. Carol Swain, a retired Vanderbilt professor of political science and law, was notified by Facebook that her account had been restricted over a meme she had posted in February 2019 depicting Democrats in KKK hoods while sitting in the House chamber. Facebook's restriction rendered Swain unable to live stream on the platform for 30 days. Facebook also deleted the post. Facebook's suspension of Swain's ability to live stream happened the day before she had a planned virtual event that was going to be live streamed. "I find it very interesting that they would use a post from 2019 to prevent me from doing a Facebook live that I scheduled for tomorrow," said Swain in a video she uploaded to LinkedIn. "It tells me that someone at Facebook, but also the political left — their progressive, uh, monitors — that they consider my voice a threat. So much of a threat that they would reach back into the past, two years, to find a reason to prevent me from talking to people who follow me on Facebook." In the video Swain posted to LinkedIn discussing the situation with Facebook she also said:

"I'm very concerned about Big Tech and the political censorship, the total disregard for the First Amendment. It is more important than ever before for us, as Americans who believe in traditional values and principles, to stand up and fight back against the progressives. If we don't begin to change America ... we will lose our country, and as it is we have almost lost our country, we saw what happened in the last election and the failure of the courts to do what they needed to do. We also saw that whenever we discussed the irregularities in the last election that people who were most vocal had their Facebook and Twitter accounts shutdown."  

Swain said she has filed an appeal with Facebook, but has yet to receive a response almost a week later.
