Twitter community adds a context note to White House tweet:  The official Twitter account for the White House tweeted, “In November, our economy added 263,000 jobs. That’s a total of 10.5 million jobs created under President Biden – more than any Administration in history at this point in a presidency." The tweet included an infographic showing a chart with the average number of jobs created monthly under Biden and the previous five presidents. Twitter added a label to the post that read "Readers added context they thought people might want to know.” The added context read "Job losses in 2020 due to COVID were significant. It took until April of 2022 to recover those lost jobs. There are currently 1.96M more jobs than at this point three years ago. Over the prior ten-year period (2010-2019), the US averaged adding 2.2M jobs each year." The note included a link to an article to support the assertion. The label is part of Twitter’s Community Notes system. Twitter users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to tweets.
