X community adds a context note to Travis_in_Flint post: Popular X account Travis_in_Flint posted "Beginning January 1st, 2024 T-Mobile will be updating their Terms of Service and will be issuing fines to any vendor, business, or person who uses their commercial SMS services and sends what they deem “hate speech.” T-Mobile will be monitoring messages and issuing fines for anything that contains Sex, Hate, Alcohol, Firearms, and Tobacco (SHAFT)." The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. T-Mobile ToS update does not apply to customers. It affects 3rd party messaging services. 'These changes only apply to third-party messaging vendors that send commercial mass messaging campaigns for other businesses.' community.t-mobile.com/plans-and-serv…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
