X community adds a context note to post about Community Notes: An X (formerly Twitter) account for activist Tariq Nasheed posted, "Thats the exact purpose of community notes. It allow suspected white supremacists to try to police Black posts." This was a response to another post that read "I only see community notes on black peoples posts. They created a whole department to police black peoples speech." X added a label to the post that read "Readers added context they thought people might want to know.” The added context read "Community notes has nothing to do with policing black people. It is a crowdsourced fact checking feature. Anyone can sign up to be a contributor, and the code is open source on github. help.twitter.com/en/using-x/com… communitynotes.twitter.com/guide/en/about…” The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts.
