X community adds a context note to user's post: An X (formerly Twitter) user posted "Leftoids love lying about American treatment of the Native Americans. There was genocidal violence against Native Americans from some individual settler populations, but the American government never had a policy of extermination directed towards Natives. That's an objective fact." The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. Indian/Native American removal became US government policy when the Indian Removal Act was enacted in 1830 under Andrew Jackson. From 1830 to the 1850s, 60K members of different nations were forcibly removed to Oklahoma, with thousands dying on the Trail of Tears. history.state.gov/milestones/183… en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_Re… en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trail_of_… pbs.org/wgbh/aia/part4…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
