X community adds a context note to Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) post: CT Senator Richard Blumenthal posted, "This recall is long overdue. For years @SenMarkey & I have sounded the alarm about Tesla exaggerating the capabilities of Autopilot & other features. NHTSA must continue its investigation to identify & remedy any additional Tesla safety problems." The post included a link to an NBC News article about the Tesla issue. The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. The supposed ‘recall’ mentioned here is just a voluntary Over-the-air software update by Tesla; unlike a traditional recall, customers do not need to bring in their cars to service center for this fix. The wordings of this post are misleading with context left out. denver7.com/news/national/…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk recently shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will now be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
