Instagram has restricted users from mentioning or tagging Project Veritas's account using its user handle: Instagram placed a mentions restriction on guerrilla journalism organization Project Veritas, and its account. Users who attempt to mention Project Veritas's user handle "@project_veritas" are met with a notice that reads, "project_veritas can't be @mentioned because it has repeatedly posted content that goes against our Community Guidelines on false content about COVID-19 or vaccines." The platform did not mention any specific violating content. Both Project Veritas and James O'Keefe have posted content exposing private comments made by employees of Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, the Food and Drug Administration and the Department of Health and Human Services. Mentions help larger accounts communicate with their following and make it easier for the accounts to find related posts from smaller accounts.
