YouTube deletes lawyer's testimony to Ohio legislature on bill that would allow lawmakers to vote down public health orders during pandemic: A YouTube spokesperson confirmed that a video uploaded by the Ohio Advocates for Medical Freedom (OAMF) channel was deleted for violating the platform's COVID-19 misinformation policy. The video contained an opening statement during a House committee hearing in the Ohio state legislature from Thomas Renz, an attorney for Ohio Stands Up!, an organization with a stated goal of filing "the first federal lawsuit in the country challenging a governor’s entire State of Emergency." Renz's testimony was part of a larger debate in the Ohio state legislature on a bill that would allow lawmakers to vote down lockdown orders during the pandemic. “We have clear Community Guidelines that govern what videos may stay on YouTube, which we enforce consistently, regardless of speaker,” Ivy Choi, a spokesperson for Google and YouTube, told The Associated Press. “We removed this video in accordance with our COVID-19 misinformation policy, which prohibits content that claims a certain age group cannot transmit the virus.” YouTube's deletion of OAMF's video came days after Republican state senators in Ohio passed a bill that established "checks and balances" on the state's GOP Gov. Mike DeWine's ability to issue and keep in place executive orders during the coronavirus pandemic.
