X community adds a context note to user's post: An X (formerly Twitter) user posted "Biden’s Executive Order 9066 gives illegals a $5,000 VISA card to use as they wish Is Biden buying votes?" The post included a video from "Mark Lamb for Senate" in which he says that immigrants coming to the U.S. are being given a cell phone, plane ticket to anywhere in the country, and a $5,000 Visa card. The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. Executive Order 9066 was signed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on February 19, 1942. The order allowed the military to remove "any or all persons" from areas designated as "military areas". The $5,000 gift card claim is made up. apnews.com/article/fact-c… politifact.com/factchecks/202… verifythis.com/article/news/v… nytimes.com/2024/02/05/us/… statesman.com/story/news/pol…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
