X community adds a context note to MAGA War Room post:  Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's War Room X account posted the following: "PRESIDENT TRUMP: 'Unlike DeSanctus and Nikki Haley, we will always protect Social Security and Medicare.'" The post included a ten second video clip of Trump saying the same words. The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. Both Trump and DeSantis have previously embraced proposals to rein in future spending on both Social Security and Medicare. factcheck.org/2023/04/duelin… Both Trump and DeSantis now say the programs should remain as they are, with DeSantis saying economic growth will help the funding problems: usatoday.com/story/news/pol…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk recently shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will now be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
