Facebook rejected singer and songwriter John Ondrasik's promoted post featuring a lyric video critical of the botched Afghanistan withdrawal: John Ondrasik, a singer and songwriter who goes by the name Five for Fighting, attempted to promote a lyric video he made for his song "Blood on My Hands," written in reaction to the botched Afghanistan withdrawal. His song calls out Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, General Mark Milley, General Lloyd Austin, and President Joe Biden by name and draws attention to their contributions to the failed operation. According to user-generated screenshots, Facebook claimed the promoted post the singer attempted to buy "may have been rejected because it mentions politicians or is about sensitive social issues that could influence public opinion, how people vote and may impact the outcome of an election or pending legislation." The platform explained further that its "policy for running ads about social issues, electoral or politics requires you to get authorized first by confirming your identity and creating a disclaimer that lists who is paying for the ads." Ondrasik's Facebook account, under the name Five for Fighting, is a verified account.
