X community adds a context note to user's post: An X (formerly Twitter) user posted a response to a screenshot purportedly showing a post from Ben Shapiro about singer Tracy Chapman's Grammy performance with Luke Combs that read "Of course the Grammy cultural Marxists had to force us to watch some black queer female perform and steal the spotlight from Luke Comb's popular new country music song. The woke war on straight white male success continues." The user added "Yeah. How dare Tracy Chapman sing her own song." The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. The tweet attributed to Ben Shapiro is fake. The author acknowledges that it's not true in the comments: x.com/JaneotN/status… It doesn't appear on Ben Shapiro's timeline: twitter.com/search?q=from%… Ben Shapiro says it's fake: x.com/benshapiro/sta…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
