X community adds a context note to Ian Bremmer post: Author Ian Bremmer posted "c'mon Kentucky..." The post included a screenshot of a headline reading "Kentucky Republican Pushes Bill to Make Sex With First Cousin Not Incest." The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. KY State Rep. Nick Wilson released a statement explaining the removal of the first cousin language in his bill was an accident. His intent was to criminalize sexual contact to the existing incest law. He has promised to withdraw his bill to fix that mistake. wkyt.com/2024/01/17/bil…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
