Twitter places a misleading warning label over tweet claiming hydroxychloroquine is an effective COVID-19 treatment: A Twitter user by the username of "American." tweeted "Hydroxychloroquine worked the entire time, and they knew it." Twitter placed a warning label on the tweet, that read "[t]his Tweet is misleading. Find out why health officials consider COVID-19 vaccines safe for most people," with a link to a feed filled with tweets from the FDA, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization. The platform also prevented users from commenting on, liking, retweeting, or sharing the tweet on other sites. Users can quote tweet the user's tweet only after being presented with a pop-up box with the same warning information.
