Amanda Prestigiacomo

Twitter censored Daily Wire writer Amanda Prestigiacomo for responding to a transgender: “Emily G” tweeted "As a transgender woman, I am biologically female."  Emily G indicated speaking German in Emily G’s bio. Daily Wire writer Amanda Prestigiacomo pushed back on Emily G Twitter claiming that two of Prestigiacomo’s tweets constituted “hateful conduct,” according to a screenshot and a look at her Twitter feed. Twitter required Prestigiacomo to delete the tweets in order to regain access to her account, after which she was served with a 12-hour read-only account restriction as punishment for her alleged "hateful conduct." In the meantime, Emily G crafted a series of tweets, seemingly in German, that appeared to use a double-meaning. Emily G’s tweets contained the word "die," which in German is a general purpose word translated "the" in English. Emily G specifically tweeted: "Alle TERFs, die," and "Die TERFs, die." Translated from German to English, these phrases are literally “All TERFs that” and “the TERFs, which,” respectively. The rest of the thread was written in German. The acronym "TERF," however, is derogatory in nature, according to Feminist Wiki, and is used to mean: "Trans-exclusionary radical feminist." Feminist Wiki defines the term as “a slur that is used predominantly by transgender activists and their allies against people who criticize the transgender movement on the basis of feminist concerns.” Daily Wire political commentator Matt Walsh said he reported the “‘hateful’ speech” of Emily G to Twitter, but the platform has not censored Emily G’s tweets at this time. Prestigiacomo's tweets, however, were quickly dispatched, in what appears to be a clear case of ideologically-based censorship.
