Twitter may soon face a jury over allegations of defamation after it censored guerilla journalism head James O’Keefe.

Project Veritas founder O’Keefe has filed a defamation lawsuit against Twitter after the platform suspended his account last week for allegedly violating Twitter’s rules on “platform manipulation and spam.”

O’Keefe decided to fight back against Twitter’s allegations. The lawsuit alleged that “Twitter’s published claim that Mr. O’Keefe ‘operat[ed] fake accounts’ is patently and demonstrably false.” It also claimed that “Twitter was in a unique position to know that this claim was false.”

Furthermore, the lawsuit alleged that “Twitter acted with intent to injure Mr. O’Keefe’s good name and reputation.”

Twitter suspended O’Keefe’s account after he posted a video of CNN technical director Charlie Chester discussing CNN’s anti-Trump coverage. Twitter told the Media Research Center at the time: “[a]s outlined in our policy on platform manipulation and spam, ‘You can’t mislead others on Twitter by operating fake accounts,’ and ‘you can’t artificially amplify or disrupt conversations through the use of multiple accounts.’”

Twitter has been on a rampage against the guerrilla journalism outlet for months. In February, the platform reportedly banned the Project Veritas account and restricted O’Keefe’s account. Just prior to the ban, Project Veritas posted a video that appeared to depict Facebook Vice President of Global Affairs Guy Rosen’s address number.

Meanwhile, Twitter took no action when the vehemently anti-Trump Lincoln Project posted, and later deleted, a thread containing nine alleged screenshots of a conversation between The 19th News reporter Amanda Becker and Lincoln Project co-founder Jennifer Horn.

The Lincoln Project is not the only liberal account that Twitter refused to take action against. “New York Times magazine reporter Nikole Hannah-Jones posted on Twitter the personal contact information of a reporter who was asking her for comment about the newspaper’s latest internal drama,” Fox News reported
