Podcast host Liz Wheeler torched Apple for silencing popular radio host Glenn Beck. And she asked an important question about how censorship interferes in elections.

The “censorship regime” silencing Blaze Media founder Glenn Beck is a symptom of a more sinister problem, podcaster Liz Wheeler noted in the August 17 episode of The Liz Wheeler Show.

“It’s almost to the point of election interference,” Wheeler said, referring to Apple Podcasts deplatforming The Glenn Beck program yesterday. She reflected on Beck’s consistent commentary on the radical left and pointed out that censorship has the power to sway an election. “Glenn talks about issues like the Biden family and ESG, and the World Economic Forum and monetary policy … He challenges globalists. And specifically, he goes after Hunter Biden’s criminal activities, and that makes a difference. We know that makes a difference in the outcome of an election.”

Wheeler referred to an MRC poll that found that 9.4 percent of Biden voters would not have voted for Biden had they been aware of the Hunter Biden scandal and 17 percent of voters in swing states would have shifted their vote had they been aware of eight key news stories. “Of course talking about Hunter Biden makes a difference,” she said. “So, how is this not election interference if you’re shutting down a conservative podcast and not shutting down the liberal podcast counterpart? You are swaying the election in one way or the other.”

The podcaster emphasized that the danger of censorship goes so much further than merely content being removed. “It’s our ability to be part of the self-governance of our country,” Wheeler said. She emphasized that if Americans cannot speak without being “criminalized like Trump for questioning fishy activities during a presidential election” or are “banned from one of the biggest podcast applications in the world” for criticizing “Biden” and “globalists,” “then we are not going to be active participants in the self-governance of our country. It’s going to devolve into tyranny.” Wheeler doubled down, adding, “I do not say this to be hyperbolic. I say this because we are experiencing this happening.”

Wheeler also outlined the apparent strategy of the left. “The way that the censorship regime works is they target people specifically that they think the rest of the conservative movement or Republican party won’t defend,” she said.

But online censors have moved on to censoring more mainstream opinions, said Wheeler, and considering the recent attacks on Beck and Daily Wire editor emeritus and podcast host Ben Shapiro, it seems she is right.  “What they are doing right now is they are attempting to move the Overton window, peeling off people they consider to be on the edge, moving it closer and closer to us.”

She added that when she heard the news of Apple censoring Beck she “had this chilling feeling, the chilling feeling like, well  if they’re going to come for Glenn, then they are definitely going to come for us.”
