Rumble continues to defy government officials, media outlets, and companies fiercely pressuring the pro-free speech video platform to censor Russell Brand.

Rumble has refused to demonetize Russell Brand over what have been, as of yet, unproven allegations of sexual misconduct. Rumble doubled down in response to speculation that the platform could be banned under the UK’s new anti-free speech online safety laws. “[O]ur staff has never been more prepared and ready for whatever comes at us,” Rumble announced in a Sept. 27 post on X (formerly Twitter).

“Rumble has been under relentless attack from governments and the mainstream media on various fronts,” the platform posted. “What they fail to understand is that every attack only emboldens our community and makes us stronger.” Rumble added that it “was built for pressure and built for these types of moments,” and that its “infrastructure,” “ad system,” and “staff” have “never been more prepared and ready for whatever comes at us.”

In its post, Rumble also asked its creators to enable the “#SupportFreeSpeech” promo code “to give your viewers one month free on your Locals community.” Rumble offers creators a way to monetize content and interact with viewers through its partnership with Locals. The two platforms are apparently pushing the #SupportFreeSpeech effort together. “It’s our creators who bring us the truth. It’s our creators that make Rumble strong. It’s our creators who need your support,” Rumble insisted.

The platform has been facing steady financial pressure to censor Brand. UK Parliamentarian Caroline Dinenage wrote to Rumble and other tech companies urging them to demonetize Brand, which Rumble refused to do. The News Movement (TNM) then reached out to multiple companies urging them to pull ads from Rumble. Shortly after, Burger King, HelloFresh, Asos and The Barbican withdrew ads from the platform. TNM is tied to a group funded by climate activist James Murdoch (Brut digital media firm) and is partnered with tech giant Amazon. Even before TNM exerted pressure, YouTube demonetized Brand preemptively, soon after the allegations came out.
