As tech companies madly rush to unleash artificial intelligence (AI), the potential of AI to facilitate censorship and eliminate jobs becomes a bigger threat.

One of the most dangerous aspects of AI is its potential to facilitate or even greatly proliferate what Big Tech is already doing with regard to censorship, constituting a major threat to free speech. But as OpenAI Chief Operating Officer Brad Lightcap just acknowledged to The Wall Street Journal, censorship isn’t the only problem. He warned that AI could also eliminate some jobs, putting an unknown number of people out of work.

Even OpenAI CEO Sam Altman admitted to Congress earlier in 2023 that AI could “entirely automate some jobs.” And now, as The Journal reported, another OpenAI executive is affirming that prediction. Lightcap told The Journal that a job such as reviewing contracts “may not be a job of the future,” but rather a function of AI. This is a sobering prediction. “Every large company has an army of people that read and review contracts for revenue recognition purposes, for example,” commented Lightcap at an event hosted by The Journal. “You may not have that job. That may not be a job of the future.” He tried to say AI will increase productivity and thus create jobs too, but that’s speculative.

But as MRC Free Speech America Vice President Dan Schneider said on June 7 of Big Tech’s AI craze, just losing jobs is not even the biggest concern. “The downside is that it is a threat to our entire existence, the way we think through things, the way we control things.” Schneider warned that a lack of regulation for AI will lead to the destruction of humanity as we know it, since AI could be leftists’ “greatest tool” to “socialize America.”

AI could also make Big Tech censorship more efficient. A new report by the United Nations (UN) on the supposed “existential risk” of alleged “hate speech” and “disinformation” explicitly advised a Big Tech investment in AI tools for “content moderation,” which is leftist code for censorship.

Disturbingly, AI has been identified as programmed with a leftist and anti-Christian bias. The New York Post reported on AI’s woke, “built-in ideological bias.” In fact, MRC Free Speech America found clear bias for Democrat President Joe Biden and against his primary Republican presidential challenger Donald Trump in May. In March, a study published in the Social Sciences journal showed ChatGPT’s heavy leftist bias. ChatGPT cracked a joke about Jesus, but refused to do the same about Muhammad. Even the OpenAI CEO admitted that AI could cause “significant harm to the world.”

It could get worse from here, with woke companies like Microsoft and Google in charge of AI.

Conservatives are under attack. Contact your representatives and demand that Big Tech be held to account to mirror the First Amendment while providing transparency on AI, clarity on so-called hate speech and an equal footing for conservatives. If you have been censored, contact us using CensorTrack’s contact form, and help us hold Big Tech accountable.
