Just ten days after President Joe Biden announced his candidacy for re-election, the pro-censorship White House issued new guidelines to give itself control over the very dangerous artificial intelligence industry.

The Biden White House announced May 4 new actions that supposedly “promote responsible American innovation in artificial intelligence (AI) and protect people’s rights and safety.” This follows the administration’s Blueprint for an AI Bill of Rights and an AI Risk Management Framework. Considering how the Biden administration has a sordid track record of deep collusion with Big Tech to censor free speech, Americans should be alarmed.

Biden already openly urged tech companies to censor more in January 2022. He asked social media platforms and media outlets to “deal with the misinformation and disinformation that's on your shows.”

“A.I. is the greatest weapon the left has ever had to force its agenda against America. This administration is grabbing it by the horns just as Biden and fellow Democrats are seeking to hold the White House and take back all of Congress,” said Dan Schneider, VP of MRC Free Speech America. “The window to stop this powergrab is closing fast. Congress must act now before it is too late.”

The fact sheet about Biden’s executive order was full of gibberish, including a mandate for “New investments to power responsible American AI research and development (R&D).” The White House also blathered about “Policies to ensure the U.S. government is leading by example on mitigating AI risks and harnessing AI opportunities.”

The White House fact sheet specifically celebrated Biden’s previous executive order on “Further Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through The Federal Government.” That indicates the Biden administration sees AI as the newest field to advance woke politics. In addition, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission chair Charlotte A. Burrows even called AI development the “‘new civil rights frontier.’”

Vice President Kamala Harris, among other Biden officials, today met with the CEOs of OpenAI, Microsoft, Alphabet and Anthropic, according to the May 4 fact sheet.

The Biden administration has attacked Americans’ First Amendment rights. The Twitter Files, America First Legal and a lawsuit from the Louisiana and Missouri attorneys general unveiled a vast censorship enterprise between the Biden administration and Big Tech. For example, America First Legal accused the White House of directly coordinating to censor supposed COVID-19 “disinformation.” Then-White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki infamously boasted in July 2021 of White House efforts to flag online content for censorship. Biden himself also openly urged tech companies to censor more in January 2022, as said above.

Conservatives are under attack. Contact the White House here and demand AI mirror the First Amendment while providing transparency, clarity on so-called hate speech and equal footing for conservatives. If you have been censored, contact us at the Media Research Center contact form, and help us hold Big Tech accountable.
