Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) is overriding Biden’s scandal-ridden Department of Justice and calling for FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge Elvis Chan to testify on government-Big Tech collusion to censor.

Jordan, who chairs the House Judiciary Committee, issued a subpoena on Friday for Chan who is implicated in the Big Tech censorship campaign leading up to the 2020 presidential election.

Chan led the Bureau's cyber branch in the San Francisco field office, which allegedly held frequent communications with Silicon Valley-based Big Tech companies. Reportedly, Chan directed social media companies to specific content with the purpose of censoring. The DOJ barred Chan from giving an interview on a voluntary basis, promoting Jordan to use the powerful congressional tool of a subpoena to force his appearance.

“The Committee on the Judiciary is conducting oversight of how and to what extent the Executive Branch has coerced and colluded with companies and other intermediaries to censor speech,” Jordan wrote in a letter sent to Chan along with the subpoena. “As the primary liaison between the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Foreign Influence Task Force (FITF) and social media companies, you are uniquely positioned to aid the Committee’s oversight.”

The congressman’s investigation began after the Facebook Files and Twitter Files revealed that the federal government colluded with Big Tech social media platforms to suppress views that conflicted with the government-approved narrative on COVID-19 and election fraud.

Jordan said the bombshell information revealed in the discovery phase of the Missouri v. Biden lawsuit “exposed how the federal government has pressured and colluded with Big Tech and other intermediaries to censor certain viewpoints on social and other media in ways that undermine First Amendment principles.”

He added that the American people need to know the truth about the extent of the censorship.“It is necessary for Congress to gauge the extent to which FBI agents coerced, pressured, worked with, or relied upon social media and other tech companies to censor speech. The scope of the Committee’s investigation includes understanding the extent and nature of the FBI’s involvement in this censorship,” Jordan said.

Chan’s constant communication with Twitter was revealed in the Twitter Files last year which showed him pressuring Twitter to share user information with the FBI–a request he knew violated Twitter’s terms of service.

Chan asked the company to reconsider its policy so the FBI could use a “tool for open source intelligence.”

“The commercial version of this tool includes the Twitter data feed,” Chan wrote. “However, the feed was disabled because the vendor said they did not want to violate their terms of service with Twitter. My colleagues are wondering if Twitter would be open to revising its terms of service to allow this vendor to continue having access to the Twitter feed?”

To his credit, former Twitter Head of Trust and Safety Yoel Roth immediately refused Chan’s request.

It will be interesting to see what Chan has to say about his demand.
