Anti-Trump California billionaire Tom Steyer leads the Need to Impeach “movement,” and Next Gen America political group. ABC wasn’t honest enough to make that clear for readers on June 1.

Instead, the network misled them by making it sound like two grassroots organizations were promoting the impeachment of President Donald Trump. Nevermind that the same billionaire donor is behind both groups and is spending millions to make impeachment a reality.

ABC helped Steyer create phony grassroots — also known as astroturfing.

“Demonstrators rallied at the Washington Monument on Saturday to call for the impeachment of President Donald Trump. Members of the Need to Impeach movement partnered with the civic action group NextGen America to persuade Congress to start the impeachment process,” ABCNews.com reported.

The story never mentioned that Steyer is the founder of Need to Impeach — a “political machine” he spent $120 million building to push pro-impeachment Democrats in the 2018 election. In 2019, Steyer committed at least another $40 million to Need to Impeach.

ABC online identified NextGen America as being “funded by billionaire Tom Steyer” and admitted the group had “helped Democrats get elected,” but it failed to call him a “liberal.”

In reality, both are Steyer’s political operations and they’ve worked in tandem to pressure Democratic politicians to impeach Trump.

ABC should have pointed out that Steyer spent $239 million in the past three election cycles exclusively on liberals and Democrats. As the top individual contributor in the 2014 and 2016 elections, Steyer gave more than $166 million combined ($75.4 million in 2014, $91 million in 2016) and all of it went to liberals according to Open Secrets. The vast majority was given through his NextGen Climate Action group (later rebranded as NextGen America).

He also spent more than $73 million on the 2018 midterm elections. And again, all of it went to liberals or Democrats.
