Leave it to the leftist hacks at Mother Jones to wield a George Soros-funded group to wokescold American businesses that donated to those darn 2020 GOP “election deniers.”

Mother Jones railed in an Oct. 3 story headlined “Corporate Donors Gave $44 Million to Election Deniers’ Campaigns,” that “even after January 6, corporations gave big money to lawmakers who tried to overturn the election.” The outlet regurgitated propaganda from the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) and disguised it as “analysis.”

“A new analysis shows that the 147 members of what [CREW] dubs the Sedition Caucus—lawmakers who voted against certifying Donald Trump’s 2020 election loss following the January 6 insurrection—have since raked in at least $44 million in corporate PAC donations to their campaigns,” Mother Jones complained. But nowhere did the outlet mention that CREW is heavily funded by Soros.

In fact, Soros dumped at least $2,350,000 into CREW’s coffers between 2017 and 2020 alone, but don’t expect Mother Jones to disclose that information that wrecks any pretense of CREW's objectivity. Even Mother Jones itself is financed by the liberal elite.

Liberal anti-Trump Craigslist founder Craig Newmark dished out $1 million to the liberal rag in 2018. Here’s the head-scratching part: The Poynter Institute reported on Newmark’s donation Aug. 27, 2018, saying the funding was to supposedly “boost [Mother Jones’s] ability to combat disinformation campaigns against the American people.” Does Mother Jones’s omission of CREW’s funding sources align with that supposed purpose?

Mother Jones apparently didn’t understand the irony of a liberal billionaire-funded outlet citing another liberal billionaire-funded group to smack leftists Newmark’s and Soros’s political opponents. Instead, the outlet railed how the “five biggest sources of donations to the Sedition Caucus were PACs associated with Koch Industries ($625,000), American Crystal Sugar ($530,000), Home Depot ($350,000), Boeing ($488,000) and UPS ($479,500). Boeing, Home Depot and Koch had all paused donations or promised to reevaluate their donations after January 6,” 2021.

CREW, which Mother Jones simply whitewashed as “liberal-leaning,” is notoriously leftist, especially when it comes to censorship. CREW recently urged Apple CEO Tim Cook to ban Trump’s social media platform Truth Social from the Apple App Store in an April 21 letter.

CREW President and CEO Noah Bookbinder applauded Apple for its previous censorship of alternative platforms and public figures, recalling the banning of Parler and InfoWars. “Today, Apple is once again positioned to set a positive example and to lead in corporate responsibility,” he beamed.

CREW postures as a “nonpartisan nonprofit” on its website, despite the fact that Soros funds it. And to make matters worse, the leadership of CREW has historically been left-wing. Time magazine described former CREW Chairman David Brock as “one of the most influential political operatives in the Democratic party.” Mother Jones didn’t mention any of this context.

Mother Jones was also a major player in pushing the discredited Steele dossier used to tie then-candidate Donald Trump to Russia around the time of the 2016 election. Mother Jones was one of the outlets that the FBI reportedly used to corroborate the dossier. When Mother Jones was pressed on its journalistic malfeasance, the outlet was stiff-necked.

Axios reported: "Mother Jones Washington bureau chief David Corn began reporting about the dossier prior to the 2016 election. Asked by [Washington Post media critic Erik] Wemple whether he planned to correct the record, Corn said, ‘My priority has been to deal with the much larger topic of Russia’s undisputed attack and Trump’s undisputed collaboration with Moscow’s cover-up.’"
