Are members of Congress raising the white flags in the fight against the unprecedented assault on the First Amendment? This lawmaker might have the answers.

In a Wednesday interview with Politico, Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO) hinted that the fight against Big Tech censorship is a long-term battle, hinting that he is “laying the groundwork for the future.” Buck’s remarks came after Politico pressed the lawmaker about why his efforts to rein on Big Tech censorship. “The Big Tech antitrust issues will not move forward in this Congress,” Buck admitted in the interview before warning Big Tech oligarchs that the fight is far from over.

Buck told Politico that he tries to promote free speech "behind the scenes" by briefing his colleagues on Big Tech issues. “The best way to lead on this issue is to make people aware, make members aware, of what’s going on and step back and let them draw their own conclusions,” Buck claimed, referring to lawmakers who have been hesitant to take on the fight against Big Tech.

MRC Vice President Dan Schneider reacted to Buck’s remarks and called on members of Congress to play an active role against censorship. “Congress must take decisive action to protect free speech,” Schneider said. “There is no reason Big Tech oligarchs cannot be held accountable for their un-American censorship.”

In the interview, Buck drew attention to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH)’s “Facebook Files” but called for a bipartisan consensus on the Big Tech. “I want to be a champion, but I have to be realistic,” Buck stated. “There are a lot of issues that I can focus on at this point, and I’m focused on those issues where I can develop bipartisan support.”

The Colorado lawmaker has voiced concerns against the dangers of Big Tech control, leading bipartisan efforts to zero in on social media’s antitrust laws. However, as reported by Politico, Buck’s priorities have faced obstacles as House Republicans focus on the collusion between Big Tech and the federal government.

“The more that Jim Jordan criticizes the speech, content moderation or censorship by these big companies, the more I feel like he’s making my argument that we need competition to be able to address the issue,” Buck continued in the interview.

With Jordan leading the House Judiciary Committee, the focus on Big Tech shifted from anti-trust laws to the draconian collusion between social media platforms and the Biden regime to muzzle Democrats’ leading opponents. Notably, Jordan unleashed the “Facebook Files” exposing how the Biden White House coerced Facebook to censor content that did not fit the government-approved narrative on topics such as COVID-19.
