The DHS’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) announced that it officially halted its “Misinformation, Disinformation and Malinformation” (MDM) advisory subcommittee, according to a March 24 Racket News report by Twitter Files journalist Matt Taibbi and investigative reporter Susan Schmidt.

The subcommittee was led by Vijaya Gadde, the embattled Twitter executive who purged the Hunter Biden laptop scandal from Twitter and approved banning Trump from the platform, along with Kate Starbird, chairwoman of the University of Washington’s “Center for an Informed Public.”

“With the exposure of numerous anti-free speech scandals and immense scrutiny pounding on the doors of Big Tech and the Biden White House, could it be that this wind down is a sort of tacit admission of wrongdoing?” asked MRC Free Speech America & MRC Business Director Michael Morris. “One thing is for sure, it appears sunlight continues to be the best disinfectant, both in combating microbial infections and invasive, tyrannical government.”

Combatting “MDM” was reportedly “once central to CISA’s mission,” according to Taibbi and Schmidt. “In fact, it appeared to be the inspiration for the infamous [Disinformation] Governance Board [(DGB)], which was designed to be a centralized hub uniting various public and private 'anti-disinformation initiatives.’”

Twitter Files journalist Michael Shellenberger celebrated the move halting the last remnants of Biden’s Orwellian DGB popularly known as the “Ministry of Truth.” Shellenberger called it a “big victory for free speech”:

“The Censorship Industrial Complex remains fully funded & active, but this shows that its leaders know they are guilty of violating the First Amendment & are trying to sweep away their tracks. This is a big victory for free speech AND we need many more of them. LFG! .”

The DGB came under scrutiny after it was revealed that DGB executive director Nina Jankowciz engaged in spreading disinformation against conservative leaders.

MRC Business and MRC Free Speech America also broke the story that DGB co-chair Jennifer Daskal had numerous ties to leftist billionaire George Soros. MRC Business even analyzed whether Biden’s idea for a Ministry of Truth originated with the Washington-D.C.-based think tank, Atlantic Council, which has received $768,085 from George Soros’ Open Society Foundations between 2016 and 2021.

The DGB was paused three weeks after its initial launch.
