Syndicated radio host Dan Bongino highlighted Governor Kathy Hochul’s (D-NY) laughable effort to explain away a wildly politicized case against former President Donald Trump.

Bongino panned Hochul’s ludicrous attempt to reassure concerned New York businesses after state prosecutors hit the Trump Organization with a $355 million fine. During the Feb. 19 edition of The Dan Bongino Show, Bongino played a clip of Hochul saying, “The law-abiding and rule-following New Yorkers who are businesspeople have nothing to worry about because, they’re very different than Donald Trump and his behavior.” Bongino indicated that Hochul was right to be worried, but was probably not worried enough about the ramifications of politically targeting a famous businessman for what he termed as a “magical crime” with “no fraud” and “no victims.”

Specifically, Bongino issued a dire warning to New York businesses. “I’m very sorry, you must get out of New York. They will come for you,” Bongino said, before adding, “They are coming for you. It is not a safe place to do business and Kathy Hochul set New York up with this binary, I don’t think she realizes the damage she did.”

Bongino’s remarks came after Attorney General Letitia James—a Democrat who long campaigned on charging Trump—unleashed a civil lawsuit against the Trump Organization, ultimately leading to a contentious ruling that the former president inflated the value of his properties in an alleged bid to receive generous loans.

Bongino explained that Hochul had created a “binary” where the transparently absurd case against the presumptive Republican nominee either sent a signal to people doing business in New York that they were unsafe or demonstrated that NYC had made an exception for a Republican they hate. Either way, Bongino warned his listeners on Rumble and his followers on X to leave New York City. Bongino wrote, “Avoid doing business in NY at all costs. They’re coming for you next.”

Fox Business Correspondent Kelly O’Grady also noted that this ruling could spread fear through those doing business in New York during the Feb. 19 edition of Fox and Friends. “It’s a ruling that’s already sending shock waves through the New York business community, the concern being that if this were to happen to former President Trump, what stops real estate developers or other industries in New York from seeing that same fate?” O’Grady went on to note how financially devastating this political ruling could be for former Trump’s finances.

O’Grady added that despite Hochul’s efforts, the fallout of the decision has been significant. “The reaction from the business community has been loud in some pockets,” she continued. “We had one major hedge fund manager say this sets the precedent for every property owner to be arbitrarily be declared guilty. Others are questioning if they’re even going to stay in New York.”
