Prices rose in July, but viewers of networks shows such as ABC’s Good Morning America, CBS Mornings, and NBC’s Today wouldn’t know it.

The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis announced on Wednesday that the “PCE price index increased 0.2 percent,” with outlets such as The Hill reporting that it had increased 3.3% from where it stood in July 2022. Although the news broke at 8:30 a.m., the Big Three networks ignored the news during their morning programming, because apparently they were too busy. GMA had to witness a riveting taco competition and report on Labor Day sales. Today found time for a discussion on “trendy canned drinks” and an important segment on figuring out “What’s Your Technology Personality.”

CBS Mornings came the closest to reporting the news, as they mentioned inflated costs for school supplies during a back-to-school segment. Later on the program, CBS showed its viewers College Football themed car mats.

CBS Evening News and ABC’s World News Tonight with David Muir also failed to cover the inflation news on their evening programming August 31, save for an extremely brief mention of gas prices during a CBS travel segment. Instead, they devoted significant time to the league troubles of the “Proud Boys,” leftist attacks on Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and record attendance at a Nebraska women’s volleyball game. NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, to their credit, did cover the rise in inflation from last year, as well as how rising prices have affected some Americans.

This lack of interest in bad economic news during the Biden administration follows a pattern from other legacy media, from the Associated Press trying to put a more positive spin on a job numbers miss to CNN carrying water for the White House on Bidenomics. It is also not the first time that the Big Three networks have seemingly missed out on bad news for the Biden administration. In 2022, the Bureau of Labor Statistics downwardly revised jobs numbers that Biden had bragged about by over one million, saying that only “10,500 net new jobs” were added from March through June of 2022.

Ignoring bad news will not help struggling Americans. Gas prices have risen enough that even leftist CNN cannot ignore them. From a decline in real wages under Biden, to more expensive homes, to Americans’ demolished personal savings, Bidenomics has harmed Americans.

Don’t expect the Big Three to fit that between taco competitions and Buzzfeed quiz rip-offs.
