ROUNDUP: Media Runs Cover for Bud Light Amid Slump in Sales Bud Light boycotts gave Modelo a leg up as the company surpassed Bud Light in beer sales last month. However, the leftist media continued to run cover for Bud Light and attack conservatives.

Salon, NBC News, CNN and The Washington Post made ridiculous depictions of the reason behind Bud Light’s humiliating downfall after Modelo surpassed Bud Light in monthly sales in May. Bud Light sales dropped 24.6 percent year-over-year in May after it reprehensibly partnered with embattled “transgender” activist Dylan Mulvaney. On the other hand, Modelo and other light beer brands saw a rise in sales after Bud Light’s support of radical gender ideology.

“As the Bud Light boycott rages on, the media’s deflective reaction only serves to demonstrate one thing: Americans tired of having the left’s outrageous ‘trans’ agenda rammed down their throat are winning,” said MRC Free Speech America & MRC Business Director Michael Morris. “Attempts by the media to paint conservatives as bigots and extremists have failed.”

Salon brazenly attributed Bud Light’s losses to an “avalanche of bigotry” from those who oppose radical “transgender” ideology. The outlet alleged that Bud Light’s “tepid” response to its initial financial hit “invok[ed] criticism for not disavowing the bigotry.”

CNN similarly claimed that “right-wing media’s negative barrage” and “transphobic comments” on social media caused Bud Light’s nosedive. The outlet cited consulting firm Bump WIlliams, which claimed that “a number of factors contributed to Modelo becoming the top-selling beer...  including strong retailer support, great advertising, eye-catching packaging and a ‘springboard effect’ from Cinco de Mayo going into the summer.”

When CNN finally mentioned the boycott at the end of its article, the outlet laughably hedged that the boycott “likely” caused a nearly 25 percent decline in weekly sales. The outlet then claimed that the boycott began when "some prominent conservative figures attacked the brand and social media posts spewed transphobic comments."

The Washington Post downplayed Bud Light’s decline in sales as something that was going to happen anyway, claiming that “broad market trends were favoring Modelo even before the Mulvaney controversy.” The Post cited Bump Williams Vice President of Analytics and Insight Dave Williams who gaslighted that “[c]onsumers might be moving away from Bud Light because expanding the customer base for U.S. domestic beer continues to be a struggle for brewers.”

Meanwhile, NBC accused “anti-LGBTQ outrage” of being the catalyst for the boycott. This boycott, according to NBC, “comes as state and federal politicians increasingly push to claw back the rights of trans people,” which are part of “an already marginalized group.” The outlet also called the backlash to woke policies like Bud Light’s partnership “increasingly aggressive.”
