The left has declared war on Twitter Files journalists—but some congressional leaders are having none of it.

Firebrand Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) got candid in an interview with Fox News guest host Piers Morgan about the Democratic Party’s latest assault against Twitter Files journalists Matt Taibbi and Michael Shellenberger. Donalds slammed the left and “Big Media” for turning a blind eye to the scandal-ridden White House and directing their anger to individuals who have exposed damning evidence of a Censorship Industrial Complex involving Big Tech platforms and the federal government.

“We have Democrat members of congress who are berating reporters to reveal their sources, berating reporters who by the way are not conservative columnists from The Federalist or from the Washington Times,” Donalds told Morgan on the Friday edition of Fox News Tonight. “These are what you would consider liberal-leaning journalists and berating them for being a part of Elon Musk's [supposed] scheme to defame the FBI.’”

The Republican lawmaker estimated that the American people are becoming increasingly aware of how their institutions are being weaponized to silence opinions that don’t align with approved narratives. “Democrat members choose to go down this road, that is their business,” Donalds added. “But I think the American people are sick and tired of our agencies and institutions being used against them and covering it up in the name of power politics and maintaining control of Washington, D.C.”

Morgan echoed Donalds’s sentiments by noting that the leftist legacy media would have gone bananas had the scandals facing the Biden administration involved the Trump family instead. “But because it’s Biden, different rules apply and I can say that,” Morgan said. “It is a double standard.”

Similarly, Donalds didn’t mince his words when rebuking the preferential treatment enjoyed by the First Family. “Most of the media actually has made a decision on what they want to see in politics and what they wanna see in the political agenda and they will protect any politician who supports that world view,” Donalds said. “I want an America where people can speak their mind without having their voices tamped down or repressed by members of the government and at the end of the day, it is about the freedom of the American people and the future of our country.”
